3:00pm - Blue Hill Public Library teams up with Bagaduce Music Lending Library to offer an opera preview in the Howard Room of the public library. Georges Bizet's Carmen comes to The Grand in Ellsworth Maine on Saturday, January 16th by live simulcast from the Metropolitan Opera in New York. To help music lovers prepare for this event Tony Downer will introduce and study this comic masterpiece of love and intrigue. One of the most popular operas of all time, Carmen "is about sex, violence, and racism - and its corollary: freedom," says Olivier Award-winning director Richard Eyre about his new production of Bizet's drama....374-551.
