It's October 7th and foliage in the state of Maine is creating a vibrant palette of colors for our enjoyment. The northern sections of Maine have reached peak potential this week, but around here the colors are still on the uprise with only about 50% peak color reached. Columbus Day weekend should be a prime time for visiting the coast of Maine to absorb this spectacular rush of reds, yellows and oranges.
As you come into Castine you will be taken in by the colorfully lined roads as the majestic maples reach out over you displaying ther fall pigments. A camera will be put to good use as you capture this year's blast of bright tints to remind you of your visit here.
Castine is surrounded by many perfect locations for capturing the fall display. Bald and Great Pond Mountains to the north, Toddy and Patten Pond to the east and Penobscot Bay to the west all offer supreme vistas. Blue Hill Mountain is also a favorite climb with views looking out over Blue Hill Bay with a carpet of fantastic foliage.
There's no better time to visit Castine and the Pentagoet Inn than during the foliage season.
