3rd Annual Foliage, Food & Wine Festival

On October 16-19 the 3rd annual foliage food and wine festival will offer patrons a scenic view of the crisp fall foliage and the opportunity to taste culinary creations from area chefs and food producers.  Superb food and drink are an excellent way to enjoy the colorful fall season on the Blue Hill Peninsula.

Events will include local wine dinners, a foliage, food and flower treasure hunt, discounts at local stores, cheese and wine tasting, farmer's market, and a lobster bake.

The festival will culminate with "A Taste of the Peninsula" on Sunday, October 19th.  This event will showcase area chefs and local food producers from 11-3pm on the grounds of the Arborvine on Main St. in Blue Hill.

Common Ground Country Fair

MOFGA celebrates its 32nd Common Ground Country Fair on September 19, 20 & 21, 2008, in Unity, Maine.

The Fair allows fairgoers to make connections with a rapidly expanding base of organic farms in the state of Maine. Hundreds of vendors, exhibitors and demonstrators, more than 1,000 volunteers, and roughly 50,000 fairgoers will gather to: share knowledge about sustainable living; eat delicious, organic, Maine-grown food; buy and sell beautiful Maine crafts and useful agricultural products; compete in various activities; dance; sing and have a great time.

Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and children 12 and under are free.

The fair is the premier event of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. MOFGA is the oldest and largest state organic organization in the country. The purpose of the Association is to help farmers and gardeners grow organic food, protect the environment, recycle natural resources, increase local food production, support rural communities, and illuminate for consumers the connection between healthful food and environmentally sound growing practices.
