The annual Blue Hill Fair has arrived for the 2008 season. Always scheduled around Labor Day weekend, the fair boasts of some of the finest entertainment, attractions, and exhibits. Situated in the small coastal town of Blue Hill, Maine, the Fair draws thousands from all over the state to enjoy a fun-filled weekend.
Among the many attractions featured at the fair is a large livestock area, full of the usual farm animals, as well as the llamas and alpacas on display. The fair also boasts draft horse and oxen pulling, harness racing and sheep dog trials.
On display in the two large exhibition halls are a wide range of locally grown vegetables, fruits and flowers, as well as local Grange exhibits, a wonderful Arts and Crafts department, and another large exhibit hall dedicated to 4-H and extension displays.
This year, the Blue Hill Fair is excited to bring one of the most exciting new acts in country music, Flynnville Train as its featured show on Labor Day. Friday night will feature the very popular Antique Tractor Pulling, and Saturday offers the Imperial Hell Drivers. Long-time Blue Hill Fair favorite Rick Charette and the Bubble Gum Band provide an evening of family entertainment, followed by a Mammoth Fireworks Display.
The Blue Hill Fair features a full carnival and midway. The Blue Hill Fair is unique in the number of local groups that participate with all sorts of great food and games, and Smokey’s Greater Shows provides all kinds of mechanical thrills.
The fair is located on Route 172 in Blue Hill, Maine. Admission prices are $5 for adults on Thursday. $8 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Senior Citizens day is Friday, with seniors at $4.
